2026-08-25 · Fortune Insight, LLC · Operator intel for indie iOS teams. This page covers new App Store marketing surfaces and Connect analytics — not a commission or IAP rate change. If you only track fee worksheets, Connect rules did not change because of this news.
On 2026-08-05 Apple published App Store asset best practices and design templates (Figma, Photoshop, Pixelmator) ahead of a fall launch with iOS 27 and iPadOS 27. The new Creative Assets format sits beside screenshots and app previews: brand headers, seasonal art, and content promos that can appear in the product page header, search results, In-App Events, custom product pages, and Apple Ads placements.
Submission can ride along with an app version or go through the new Asset Library in App Store Connect — upload and review standalone, then deploy approved assets without another app binary. The App Store Connect API supports uploads. A product page preview tool also ships this fall so you can render header + search creative before anything goes live.
Summary of Apple's published best practices. Final App Review interpretation will happen case by case once submissions open — this note is not legal advice.
| Rule area | What Apple published |
|---|---|
| Storefront age ceiling | Assets shown on the App Store must meet a 4+ rating — even when your app's own rating is higher (e.g. 12+ or 17+) |
| Banned in creative assets | Specific prices, discounts, URLs, unverifiable awards, other-platform logos, and reproductions of Apple editorial badges (App of the Day, Editor's Choice, etc.) |
| Video behaviour | Autoplay + loop in most placements; audio muted by default — design for silent-first playback |
| Search results slot | Optional custom image/video before the product page; if omitted, Connect falls back to In-App Events, app previews, or screenshots |
| Asset Library workflow | Approved assets can be reused across header and search placements without a second review; seasonal swaps can publish without a new app version |
Separate from Creative Assets, App Store Connect now reports per-keyword performance for your own app: impressions, tap-through rate, conversion rate, 1/7/30-day retention cohorts, and attributed IAP revenue by acquisition keyword. Data appears in the Connect web dashboard, the Connect app, and the Analytics Reports API.
Operator catches: you still cannot see competitor keyword stats; retention and revenue lines often lag 5–7 days; API access may require an Account Holder or Admin role. Market-wide demand signals remain the monthly Search Term Rank report and Apple Ads popularity scores — not absolute search volume counts.
GetAppNiche published a prepaid-app pricing median estimate of about $2.99 on 2026-07-16. The table below is observed listing prices this week — snapshots, not revenue or download promises.
| App | Observed price |
|---|---|
| CloudGear | $1.99/mo · $14.99/yr · $39.99 (lifetime tier) |
| Frankensketch | IAP ~$2.99 (estimate) |
| Optic Illusion | Free |
| Stonegate | $7.99 unlock |
The median is a reference line, not a guarantee that you should price at $2.99. Paywall design still depends on category, trial strategy, and storefront.
