Your app launched on the US storefront with English copy. Now you want Chinese users on the China App Store to see a listing that reads native — not a Google Translate paste job. This page covers what to fill in App Store Connect for the zh-Hans localization: subtitle, keywords, and description. Operator guidance only — no ranking guarantee, not legal advice, and not investment advice.
App Store Connect treats each locale as a separate row. Your en-US listing does not automatically appear on the China storefront — you add a Simplified Chinese (zh-Hans) localization and fill Chinese fields independently. Storefront availability (which countries can download) is separate from language: confirm China is checked under Pricing and Availability before you polish zh-Hans copy. US buyers see en-US; China buyers see zh-Hans when both rows are filled. If zh-Hans is empty, Apple may fall back to English or show a mixed page — neither converts well for Chinese users.
The subtitle sits under your app name on the product page and in Search results. Apple’s limit is commonly 30 characters for zh-Hans — verify in Connect before you save. Good subtitles add one fact the title does not repeat: audience (“独立开发者”), workflow (“离线 PDF 批注”), or pricing model (“免费 · 内购解锁”). Bad subtitles mirror English keyword stacks, paste pinyin-only names, or use brochure commas (“智能 · 高效 · 专业”). Write for a Chinese skim reader, not a literal en-US translation.
The keyword field is hidden from buyers but indexed for Search on the China storefront. Comma-separated, no spaces after commas (check Connect’s note). Include:
Skip competitor names you do not own, trending words your screens do not deliver, and blocks copied unchanged from your en-US keyword row. zh-Hans and en-US keyword fields are independent — US terms rarely map one-to-one to China Search.
Chinese App Store descriptions are skimmed top-down like US listings, but tone and structure differ. Lead with who the app is for and what outcome they get in the first two lines — not a feature bullet dump from your settings menu. Avoid:
Better zh-Hans copy reduces bounce on the product page — it does not replace in-app UI localization or Apple’s review decisions.
