You checked China under Pricing and Availability, opened the App Store on a China storefront account, and your product page is still English — title, subtitle, description, maybe even screenshots. That usually means the storefront is on but the Simplified Chinese (zh-Hans) localization row is empty or never added. This page diagnoses why English still shows, how to verify in App Store Connect, and how AppLocale fills the row. Operator guidance only — no ranking guarantee, not legal advice, and not investment advice. Seller: Fortune Insight, LLC.

Western indie iOS developers — US, EU, UK, Canada, Australia — who:
If you never intended to sell in China and only want US English copy, this page is not your workflow — see App Store Connect localization for adding en-US instead.
App Store Connect treats two settings as separate jobs:
Enabling the China storefront does not auto-create Chinese copy. When a buyer on the China App Store opens your product page, Apple looks for a filled zh-Hans row. If that row is missing or empty, Apple falls back to en-US — or shows a mixed page (English text above Chinese screenshots, or vice versa). Neither reads as a finished listing to China buyers.
Common triggers we see from indie teams:
Walk through these checks before you assume Apple is “stuck” or caching wrong language:
App Store Connect → your app → Pricing and Availability → verify China appears under available storefronts. If China is off, no amount of zh-Hans copy will surface there.
App Store Connect → your app → App Store tab → use the language dropdown (often top-left of the version editor). Look for Chinese (Simplified) or zh-Hans.
With zh-Hans selected, confirm saved text in:
If any of these are blank, treat the localization as incomplete — not “done because the row exists.”
Screenshot sets are usually managed per localization. Open the zh-Hans screenshot slot for each required device size. If zh-Hans galleries are empty, Apple may show en-US art even when Chinese text fields are filled.
Metadata-only changes on live apps still go through App Review. If you filled zh-Hans locally but never submitted the version, the live China App Store page may still serve the last approved metadata — often English-only.
After approval, open your app’s product page on an iPhone signed into a China storefront account (or use Apple’s storefront preview tools). Compare what you see to the zh-Hans row in Connect — they should match. Mismatch usually means fallback or an unsubmitted version.
Once you confirm zh-Hans is the gap, AppLocale gives you paste-ready copy instead of staring at blank Connect fields:

Enabling China under Pricing and Availability makes the app downloadable there — it does not create Chinese copy. Apple shows the zh-Hans localization row when it is filled; if zh-Hans title, subtitle, or description are empty, the product page falls back to en-US or shows a mixed English page.
Open your app in App Store Connect, go to the App Store tab, select the Simplified Chinese (zh-Hans) localization from the language dropdown, and inspect whether name, subtitle, keywords, and description have saved text. An added row with blank fields means the China storefront still serves English fallback.
No. Adding the localization row creates empty fields. You paste or type Chinese copy into each field independently. en-US and zh-Hans do not sync automatically.
